Troubled Thimbles Quilt Retreat

I don't know if I have mentioned how our group came up with it's name.  Some of us were in a local quilt shop's Thimbleberries club and we just started getting together - we also liked Kansas Troubles fabrics by Moda so we came up with the name Troubled Thimbles.  Warning - picture overload coming up.

Anyway, I spent the weekend with 13 of the most caring, generous, and talented women.  We laughed, we ate, we sewed, we stitched, we teased and we shared.

One of the 'requirements' of attending the retreat is to bring a baby quilt.  We donate these to the local Florence Crittenton home and to the NICU of a local hospital.  Here they are draped over a couch in the lobby of the hotel where we had the retreat:

We had a challenge to make something from our 'stash'.  The only rule was you could purchase backing if needed otherwise, it had to come from your collection of fabric. I was totally blown away by the talent and creativity of this group.  Here are some of the quilts:

Mary Lou made everyone of the Schnibbles quilts from the second Schnibbles book, sizing them for use as wheelchair quilts.  She donated most of them to a local nursing home that is near and dear to another member.  Amazingly she had all of the fabrics in her closet.  I think we all should be on an episode of Hoarders.  LOL!!

And Donna made most of the quilts from a Charm School book by the ladies from Country Threads:

Here are some of the ladies hard at work:

It was so much fun.  Thank you Donna and your little helpers, Nancy and her food and equipment managers and all the ladies who made the weekend a success.  I know we all had a great time.
